There are various game modes to choose from whether you enjoy solo-gaming or get a rush while competing against other players. The singleplayer includes a big number of modes and begins with the Starter Circuit which allows you to master the basics, understand drifting, side swiping, stunning others, slipstreaming, using skills (normal, backwards and charged) to either speed up or attack opponents of defend yourself with a shield, and take a peek at using the iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.

The most favorite game mode in the singleplayer menu is Season Tour which is a limited campaign that consists of multiple chapters and grants all kinds of rewards to upgrade your Racers and show everyone on the track who is the boss! The upgrade system is implemented to empower the characters from the roster and make them faster, more resistant to attacks, easier to manage and so on. Upgrading Racers is done using upgrade materials which can be generic, specific to a Class or to a character.

Other singleplayer modes include Limited Events that grant rewards for completing missions or climbing the leaderboard, and also sub-modes such as Single Skill (where everyone is bound to use only one ability each time they pick up a skill item that looks like the game mascot Arbee), Last One Standing (where the task is to survive till the end because the last place player gets attacked by angry robots), Boss Challenge (where one of the AI racers starts targeting the player), Color Match (where Arbee changes color every few seconds), Fog Challenge (where the racetrack is covered in fog to obscure the vision) and Floating Objects (where players can jump on special platforms and get pushed higher to collect skill items).

The multiplayer modes include Regulated Multiplayer (where everyone is on the same level and gets rewards reaching a certain level) and Ranked Multiplayer (where players need to showcase all their abilities and use their best racers to win the match and obtain unique cosmetics and missing upgrade materials).

Characters: Disney & Pixar go full battle racing

An incredible roster of characters including Captain Jack Sparrow, Mulan, Mickey Mouse, Sulley, the Beast and more are suited and revving up for racing combat. Upgrade each racer’s stats and make the most of their unique skills that can impact the outcome of a single race and dramatically change the way you play the game!

Each Racer has a unique skill at their disposal. Whether you use Mulan's "Firework Barrage" to blow the competition away or Sulley's "Fearsome Roar" to scare them off the track, there's a wide range of unique skills to master.[13]

A huge number of support characters have joined Disney Speedstorm as invaluable helpers called Crew Members. Clarabelle Cow, Gus Goose, Pedro and others assist Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck, while Kaa, Shere Khan and Bagheera are increasing statistics for Baloo and Mowgli! Little Boo is there to roar at opponents alongside Sulley, too, while Mike Wazowski and Randall drive through doors and leave rivals in the dust! And each Season brings more friends and sidekicks to assist the mighty heroes, such as Nani helping Lilo and Pleakley empowering Jumba, while Abu and Iago root for Aladdin and Jafar!

Skills: Arcade racing redefined

"An image of Jack Sparrow and Donald Duck driving cars"

Anyone can pick up and play Disney Speedstorm but mastering skills and techniques like timing your nitro boosts, precisely drifting around corners, adapting to dynamic track environments, and using extra game mechanics such as side bumping into other players to stun them or staying on their slipstream to regain nitro fuel or even sliding on the Grind Pipe to cut the route short on any map are crucial to dominating each race. The wide variety of power-ups can help you disrupt other players, hide from their attacks or increase your current speed! And we also cannot forget to mention that each Racer has a Unique Ability that resembles their personality from the original Disney or Pixar film!

The common power-ups that can be used by multiple characters include the following:

  • Boost: get nitro fuel instantly (Normal usage) or more but over time (Charged usage).
  • Fire: create a fiery aura to attack players (Normal usage), a fiery trail (Backwards usage) or an explosion (Charged usage).
  • Shot: stun opponents by firing an unguided projectile ahead (Normal usage), behind (Backwards usage) or a guided one ahead (Charged usage).
  • Hack: obscure opponents' view by shooting an unguided projectile ahead (Normal usage), creating a wall behind (Backwards usage) or a guided projectile ahead (Charged usage).
  • Cloak: hide yourself from any harm by concealing yourself (Normal usage) and creating an explosion when getting out of the concealed state (Charged usage).
  • Rush: dash forward one big time (Normal usage) or three small ones (Charged usage).
