Muses are a Crew Member in Disney Speedstorm. It is an Epic Crew Member which means it gives Bonus % to all Racer statistics (depending on the Crew Member star level), allows the player to start the race with 1 skill and amplifies the unique skill while used (Cloak, Grecian Burn). Muses are part of the Hercules Collection.

Origin

Muses are supporting characters in Disney's 1997 animated feature film, Hercules. They are 5 goddesses who the Muses play a crucial role in guiding and narrating the story. They are usually separate from the main characters and keep breaking the 4th wall by communicating with the audience, however, they can be seen interacting with Meg during her iconic song "I won't say I'm in love" talking to her directly in the song lyrics and giving her a flower at the end.

There are only three muses presented on the Disney Speedstorm Crew chip (from left to right): Thalia, Calliope, and Terpsichore.

  • Thalia, the Muse of comedy, is a plump, fun-loving character with short hair in a ponytail and a mischievous smile. She has a deep voice and is seen playing the trumpet.
  • Calliope, the Muse of epic poetry, contrasts Thalia with her stern and serious demeanor. She is depicted as a tall, slender woman with jet black hair. Calliope’s powerful voice and authoritative style make her an impressive figure, and she often takes charge of the Muses’ performances. She is known for reciting epic tales of heroes and legends, using her voice to inspire and motivate.
  • Terpsichore, the Muse of dance, embodies grace and fluidity. She wears her hair in Bantu knots in the front and loose curls in the back, and she is the only one to interact with any of the characters directly, as she teaches Hercules how to dance in one of the episodes of "Hercules: The Series".

Although the Muses' personalities differ, they sing in a perfect harmony while explaining the events to the audience. They often appear throughout the main story and the spin-offs singing and dancing but they never interact with the main characters directly (excluding Terpsichore once).
